The Craft Behind the Pixels

With nearly 30 years in design, we've learned that great work comes from understanding people as much as pixels. DPI combines classic design principles with modern tools to create brands, websites, and visuals that feel both timeless and fresh. Every project is personal, every detail intentional.

Designer of Things

It was probably a hot, sunny day at an unnamed art school in Tempe, AZ, way back in the summer of 1996. That’s where my graphic design adventure began. Working at various design jobs, including a sign shop, t-shirt shop, and even a recording studio, I gathered immense knowledge and experience. I then landed at Dex (also known as the Yellow Pages, US West, and Qwest), where I worked directly with clients and fine-tuned my design skills. After eleven years and countless memories, it was time to move on (by force, of course — not because I wanted to; it was a good gig), as was most of the company in 2008. Does anybody know what a phone book even is anymore?

Skipping ahead a few years to the fall of 2012, my fortunes changed yet again. That’s when I joined my current employer, and the rest, as they say, is history. Being constantly challenged by co-workers and clients was exactly what I needed to grow. Working on branding and other creative projects keeps my design motor running, and the fact that every client brings different backgrounds, concepts, and visions makes each day exciting.

I love what I do and where I work, but I also want to push myself with projects outside of our usual scope. That’s why I started Digital Pixels Inc. (DPI): to take on freelance design work and make new creative connections.

The obligatory “what I do outside of freelancing” section: I enjoy all of your regular activities, such as long walks on the beach, horseback riding, and sunsets… wait, no, I don’t. I like to watch movies and sports (no basketball, though), BBQ, and attempting to learn the guitar.
